This is a trailer for a documentary about the culture and generational phenomena of body art in Seattle. Capturing an audience in a short amount of time has always been the challenge with trailers and “INKED” is about the feeling of a generation and their attitudes towards tattoos unique to Seattle. Along with the trailer, the movie also has a poster to help advertise.
Listening to Marcy Playgound’s “I Smell Sex and Candy” always leaves a certain, shall we say, taste in my mouth. Creating a typographic and image solution required replicating the same feeling the song evoked. Thus, Sex&Candy.
Symbols that break language barriers can express meaning to people from all different kinds of backgrounds and cultures. This symbol set is one that could be used in identifying objects of evidence in court cases or crime in general. Because of its serious nature, symbols of crime objects can help native and non-native speakers alike in staying within the bounds of law to which all are held liable.
Information graphics have become a powerful tool to educate without neglecting the aesthetic interest its predecessors lacked. When given the general topic of Brazil, I knew it would be an opportunity to indulge my inner “hippy” focusing on environmental concerns and the tragic realities of animal trafficking.
